Azallion ties for ninth at Schenkel Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. — Virginia Tech's Daniel Azallion posted his second top-10 of the season by tying for ninth at the Schenkel Invitational, which concluded Sunday at the par 72, 7,123-yard Forest Heights Country Club.
 
The native of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, carded 10 birdies and an eagle on his way to a 4-under 212. He signed for a 5-under 67 in Saturday's second round, which included a 6-under 30 on the front nine. Azallion's other top-10 came at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate last fall.
 
Tech tied for 11th as a team, finishing at 13-over 877. Tournament host Georgia Southern dialed up a 25-under 839 to edge 17th-ranked Notre Dame's 18-under 846.
 
College of Charleston's Kieron van Wyk topped the individual leaderboard with a 12-under 204, two shots clear of Georgia Southern's Mason Williams.
 
The Hokies are back in action April 11-12 at the Lewis Chitengwa Invitational hosted by Virginia at Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville, Va.
