AUGUSTA. Ga. – Virginia Tech tied for fifth and Emily Mahar recorded her fourth top-five finish of the season at the Valspar Augusta Invitational over the weekend. The event was originally penned to be 54 holes, but was reduced to 36 holes due to weather.
Mahar rebounded from after shooting +5 on Saturday to bag a -2 on Sunday afternoon. Her second round started strong with birdies on three of the first seven holes. After a pair of bogeys, Mahar birdied her last hole of the day to tie for fifth – securing a 15-spot improvement from the first round.
Becca DiNunzio tied for 22nd with an improved second round that saw her birdie three holes. Keera Foochareon tied for 34th after shooting +2 on Sunday, climbing two spots from Saturday.
Ginnie Lee tied for 31st, while Alyssa Montgomery and Symone Henriques finished tied for 55th. Kyrsten Shawah, who competed as an individual, tied for 65th.
The Hokies will return to competition on Friday, March 25, in Sunset, S.C. for the Clemson Invitational at The Reserve at Lake Keowee.
