ATLANTA – Battling for 23 combined innings and nine-plus hours of doubleheader action on Sunday, the Virginia Tech baseball team heroically gave its all while competing against No. 13 Georgia Tech, despite coming up winless against the Yellow Jackets: 12-6 and 7-6 (14 innings).
Virginia Tech (10-4, 0-3 ACC) finished its weekend against Georgia Tech (13-3, 3-0 ACC) having scored first during all three games while erasing its 5-1 deficit during Sunday's second game to force extra innings. The Hokies' 6-5 lead during the top of the 14th inning marked their second late-inning lead of the series, having led the Yellow Jackets, 8-7, during the ninth inning of Friday's opener.
