Hokies ready for ACC Championship on Sunday

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The No. 8 Virginia Tech wrestling team finished the regular season going 9-4, 4-1 ACC and will look to capture conference title number five as they travel to Charlottesville for the 2022 ACC Championships this Sunday, March 6.

The Hokies enter the ACC Championship led by five returning or previous conference champions – Sam Latona (125-pounds, 2021), Korbin Myers (EWL 133-pounds 2017, 2018; ACC 133-pounds, 2021), Mekhi Lewis (165-pounds, 2019), Hunter Bolen (184-pounds, 2020), and Nathan Traxler (Pac-12 197-pounds, 2019).

  • Entering Sunday's conference championship, Tech has nine wrestlers ranked in at least one poll.
  • No. 5 Korbin Myers, No. 6 Mekhi Lewis, No. 8 Bryce Andonian, No. 14 Hunter Bolen, No. 14 Nathan Traxler, No. 18 Sam Latona, No. 23 Collin Gerardi, No. 30 Connor Brady, and No. 31 Dakota Howard.
  • The Hokies ended the regular season at No. 8 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association polls after finishing 9-4, 4-1 ACC, marking another top-10 finish in head coach Tony Robie's fifth season at the helm.

Two-time ACC runner-up and 2021 Junior World bronze medalist, Bryce Andonian, garners the No. 2 seed, 2018 Junior World gold medalist, 2019 ACC champion and national champion Mekhi Lewis, and three-time ACC finalist, 2020 ACC champion Hunter Bolen earn the No. 3 seed to round out top-three seeds for the Hokies.
