CINCINNATI, Ohio – Virginia Tech suffered its first defeat of the season on Sunday, falling 4-1 to Michigan State.
The Hokies' day started out promising, as Tech secured the doubles point for its second match in a row. Katie Andreini and Annie Clark earned a win on Court 1, setting up Rita Pinto and Erika Cheng for the clinch on Court 2.
In singles, Michigan State swept the first sets across the board. Tamara Barad Itzhaki and Dariya Radulova battled back in their second sets. Barad Itzhaki was two games away from winning on Court 1, but the Spartans clinched on Court 2, Court 4 and Court 6.
Tech returns to the court on Monday morning against Xavier.
