Hokies wrap up dominant weekend at home against Davidson, Richmond

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech wrapped its undefeated weekend at home, as it added two more wins against Davidson and Richmond to its record.
 
DAVIDSON
The Hokies started the day off in doubles splitting results on Court 1 and Court 3. Jordan Chrysostom and Ryan Fishback picked up a 6-3 win, setting up Alvaro Saez-Royuela Ariza and Scott Sculley to clinch the point with a 7-5 result on Court 2.
 
Michael Shepheard got the ball rolling in singles with a 6-3, 6-2 decision on Court 4, followed swiftly by Alberto Orso's 6-2, 6-1 victory on Court 5. Carlo Donato played clincher on Court 3 with a decisive 6-2, 6-0 result.
 
Alex Ix battled into a super tiebreaker on Court 6 and walked away with a 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 win, while No. 78 Fishback added one more triumph – 6-3, 6-4 – on Court 1 for the Hokies' 6-1 victory.Gallery: (2-5-2022) MTEN: Davidson Match
RICHMOND
Tech did not seem phased heading into its fourth match in a two-day stretch, as it cruised to the doubles point against the Spiders. Carlo Donato and Alberto Orso registered a 6-0 win on Court 3, setting up Ariza and Sculley for their second clinch of the day – 6-1.
 
The singles results rolled in quickly for Virginia Tech, as Fishback, Orso, Donato and Shepheard tallied straight-set wins. None of the players gave up more than three games in a set.
 
Ix and Ariza were the last men standing again, this time both pulling off wins for the Hokies' 7-0 performance. Ix added a 6-4, 6-3 win to his numbers, while Ariza battled back in both sets for a 7-5, 6-4 win.
 
Fishback (4), Ix (4), Orso (4), Donato (3), Shepheard (3) and Harper (2) all earned multiple wins this weekend and went undefeated.Gallery: (2-5-2022) MTEN: Richmond Match
