No. 7 Hokies shutout Miami (OH) 8-0 in five innings

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The Hokie offense came alive Saturday morning, defeating Miami (OH) 8-0 in five innings. Tech recorded 11 hits over the five innings, including a triple and double, both from junior Morgan Overaitis.

Lemley (5-1) went the distance for Virginia Tech (10-2), giving up four hits, walking one and striking out six.

Overaitis led the way offensively for the Hokies, going 3-for-3 in the ballgame with a double, a triple and two RBIs. Junior Meredith Slaw provided a spark offensively as well, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Sophomore Emma Ritter also contributed, going 2-for-3 for Virginia Tech with two RBIs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hokies took the lead in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Virginia Tech scored three runs in the frame, highlighted by two RBIs from Ritter.

The Hokies also added runs in the second, third, and fourth innings on the way to the 8-0 victory.
