Five reasons to attend No. 23 Hokies against No. 3 NC State

Buy Tickets

Two of the top teams in the ACC will go at it this Sunday, Feb. 27 at Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum, when the No. 23 Virginia Tech women's basketball team takes on No. 3 NC State at 6 p.m. ET.

Tickets to this highly-anticipated contest are still available for as little as $5. Secure your seats for this must-see match-up, and check out some reasons below of why you won't want to miss it.

THE BEST DOWN LOW

Elizabeth Kitley is a serious contender to win the ACC's Player of the Year award next week, and she will face NC State's preseason All-American Elissa Cunane. The two, who grew up just miles apart in Summerfield, North Carolina, will make a case to solidify their status among the best in the league Sunday, as voters make their decision for the award.

LOCK IT UP

If the Hokies secure the win versus the Wolfpack, they will earn a top-four seed and a double-bye in the ACC Tournament. That would be the first time that the Hokies have had a top-four seed at a conference championship since moving to the ACC in 2004.

SENIOR DAY

It's been a heck of a career for guard Aisha Sheppard, who will play her final regular-season game in Cassell Sunday. She already is the team's all-time scoring leader and owns the most 3-pointers in ACC history. The Hokies' other Senior Day participants will be Chloe Brooks and Emily Lytle.

ORANGE EFFECT

Fans are encouraged to wear orange T-shirts at the game for the team's orange out. Early arriving fans will be able to receive an orange Tech T-shirt.

RANKED MATCHUP

Tech, which has been ranked in the AP Top 25 poll the past two weeks, will face NC State for the first time in the series with both teams being ranked. The last time NC State came to Cassell, the Hokies won 83-71 in overtime on Jan. 28, 2021. State was ranked No. 2 at the time.
