BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech earned its third home victory of the season on Wednesday, as the Hokies cruised past Radford, 7-0.
Tech was dominant and efficient all day, earning all six singles wins in straight sets, along with sweeping doubles.
Sabina Richtrova and Chhinda Som picked up the first win for Virginia Tech in doubles, 6-3, on Court 3. Erika Cheng and Rita Pinto clinched the point for the Hokies on Court 2 with their 6-4 win. Katie Andreini and Annie Clark wrapped up the doubles sweep on Court 1 in a tiebreak, winning 7-6 (4).
In singles, the Hokies continued to dominate Radford. Charlotte Cartledge added to Tech's tally first on Court 5 with her 6-2, 6-0 win. Tamara Barad Itzhaki swept her opponent on Court 1 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
The Hokies wrapped up their second win in the last three matches when Dariya Radulova won 6-1, 6-1 on Court 3. Semra Aksu played on Court 4 and didn't miss a step, winning 6-2, 7-5.
Elizabet Danailova battled through a tough first set on Court 2, then took control in the second set for a 7-6 (5), 6-2 triumph. Lastly, Kirsten Husted made her debut this season on Court 6 and battled back from an early second set deficit to win 6-2, 7-5.
