TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The No. 8 Virginia Tech Hokies fell to No. 2 Alabama Saturday afternoon after a two-run home run in the sixth sealed the win for the Tide.
Freshman Emma Lemley (3-1) started and took the loss in the circle for Virginia Tech (7-2). The right-hander went six innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on five hits, allowing no walks and striking out seven.
In the batter's box, the Hokies were led by junior Kelsey Brown, who went 2-for-4 on the day. Sophomore Cameron Fagan put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 2-for-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Virginia Tech managed one chance with runners on third, going a total of 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position. The Hokies last got a runner on third in the fifth, when sophomore Addy Greene made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.
