Hokies away from home for three-match stretch

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech heads back on the road this weekend for matches against No. 17 Old Dominion, Norfolk State and Furman.

HOKIES
Virginia Tech split its result last weekend, falling to Charlotte before rebounding with a 6-1 win against Marshall
 
Tamara Barad Itzhaki headlined the weekend for the Hokies, moving to 3-1 on the season on Court 1 after earning to two more wins. Against Charlotte, she battled for a three-set victory over No. 79 Margaux Maquet followed by a 6-3, 6-4 win against Marshall's Emma Vanderheyden.
 
Charlotte Cartledge picked up her first win of the season last Sunday, while Dariya Radulova, Elizabet Danailova, Erika Cheng and Kate Andreini also had victories.
 
MONARCHS
No. 17 Old Dominion enters this weekend's match following a 4-2 win against Wisconsin.  Despite having lost four matches, the Monarchs are a proven team with a win against No. 12 Georgia Tech on their record. All four of Old Dominion's losses have come to top-25 teams.
 
Old Dominion's Yulia Starodubtseva is ranked No. 47 in the country in singles, while the duo of Starodubtseva and Tatsiana Sasnouskaya is ranked No. 3 nationally.
 
SPARTANS
Norfolk State lost its only match of the season on Feb. 5, 7-0, to William & Mary. The Spartans are headlined by West Virginia transfer Amber Fuller on Court 2.
 
PALADINS
Similar to Old Dominion, Furman enters their matchup with Hokies as a battle-tested team. The Paladins have dropped three matches to top-25 teams. 
 
On Court 1, Furman has No. 62 Julia Adams. She has a ranked win already this season, downing No 79 Selin Ovunc in straight sets when Furman played Auburn.
