BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech earned its second home win of the season by sweeping all six singles matches against Marshall on Sunday.
Despite dropping the doubles point, the Hokies rallied in singles with some comfortable victories.
Tamara Barad Itzhaki got her second win of the weekend on Court 1, as she defeated Emma Vanderheyden, 6-3, 6-4. Tech then doubled its score when Katie Andreini picked up a straight sets victory of her own on Court 6, 6-2, 6-4 over Jutte Van Hansewyck.
Dariya Radulova helped the Tech inch closer to its victory when she defeated Liz Stefancic, 6-4, 6-4, on Court 2.
The magic clinching moment came from Charlotte Cartledge, who earned her first collegiate duals win on Court 5 – 6-4, 6-3 – an gave Tech its second win of the season.
Elizabet Danailova helped wrap up the day for the Hokies on Court 3, as she won her match in a second-set tiebreaker, 6-4, 7-6(5). Erika Cheng was the only player to go three sets, but her last two were dominant, winning 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.
