GREENSBORO, N.C. – On Wednesday afternoon the ACC announced its 2021 Cross Country All-ACC Academic teams, with Hokies Lindsey Butler and Antonio Lopez Segura earning the conference honor.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in the selection process.
Butler finished 15th at the 2021 ACC Cross Country Championships and followed her All-ACC result with a 22nd place finish at the Southeast Regional meet. The junior from Corning, N.Y. helped the Hokies into a 7th place finish as a team at the ACC Championships and 6th place at the Regional Championships. This is Butler's first All-ACC Academic honor during her cross country career, and adds to her honor from the 2021 outdoor track and field season.
Lopez Segura earns his third All-ACC Academic honor of his cross country career and fourth overall, previously earning the honor in the 2021 indoor track and field season. Lopez Segura finished 15th overall at the Southeast Regional meet this fall, leading the Hokies to a 10th place finish in the region.
