Hokie ClubGREENSBORO, N.C. – Four Hokies have been named to the 2021 Volleyball All-ACC Academic Team, the ACC announced Tuesday morning. Griere Hughes, Logan Mosley, Brie Postema and Tasha Vipond put in the work on the court and in the classroom.
The quartet of Hokies met the academic requirements of a 3.0 GPA or better, while also making an impact on the court during the 2021 season. This is the first Academic All-ACC honor for all four athletes.
Hughes finished the season leading the Hokies in points (301), points per set (2.95), kills (264) and kills per set (2.59). She played in 28 matches for the Hokies and was also a factor on the defensive end, recording 49 total blocks with .48 blocks per set. She posted nine solo bocks and 40 block assists.
Joining the 1,000 career digs club this season, Mosley was a key defensive player for Tech, recording 409 total digs with 3.62 digs per set. She finished the year ranked seventh in the ACC in total digs and 10th in digs per set. Mosley played in all 30 matches for the Hokies, a team-high, and added 82 assists on the year.
As the primary setter for Tech, Postema posted 538 assists with 6.18 assists per set. She was also solid at the service line, recording 24 aces with .28 aces per set. The sophomore had one of her best matches of the season in the win over Virginia, recording a career-high 47 assists. The setter also had three aces against the Cavaliers.
At the net, Vipond was one of the leaders of the Hokie block, finishing her career with 1.13 blocks per set to lead Tech, which also landed her seventh in the ACC rankings. She had 12 solo blocks with 85 block assists for 97 total blocks on the year. Offensively, the middle blocker finished with 111 total kills and a .218 hitting percentage.
