Robinson earns VaSID All-State honors

RICHMOND, Va. – After a standout senior season, middle blocker Angel Robinson has been named to the All-State team by the Virginia Sports Information Directors on Thursday. This is the Norman, Okla. native's first All-State honor.
 
Robinson led the Hokie block during the 2021 season that at one point ranked fifth nationally in total blocks. The senior recorded 114 total blocks, including 13 solo blocks and 101 block assists, both team-highs. She played in 110 sets for Virginia Tech and finished the year with 1.04 blocks per set, good for second on the team.
 
Offensively, Robinson also led Tech at the net, posting a hitting percentage of .334. She had 159 kills over 371 attempts with only 35 errors over the course of the season. The middle blocker averaged 1.45 kills per set as well as 2.23 points per set. She ended the season ranked seventh in the ACC in hitting percentage, eighth in total blocks and and 10th in blocks per set.
 
In the Hokies win over Davidson, Robinson went off for 15 kills and 19 total points, both career-highs. Tech put up a season-high 19 blocks in the Oct. 1 match at Boston College, including eight total blocks from Robinson which was also a career-high.
