BLACKSBURG – Heading into this Saturday's home game against Richmond, a few Virginia Tech football players met with the media for a press conference on Tuesday. Read what they had to say below.

RUNNING BACK RAHEEM BLACKSHEAR

On how the team has responded after losing on Saturday:
"I feel like we responded very well. There is stuff that we need to do to achieve our goals and where we want to be as a team. We just need to elevate our game and be better going forward."

RECEIVER TAYVION ROBINSON

On practice this week and preparing for Richmond:
"I think practice is going well. We turned the page and are getting ready for Richmond. Offensively, we just need to execute, you know. We made some mistakes this past weekend, but we just need to focused on executing and going out there making plays."

RECEIVER KALEB SMITH

On playing an FCS school and Richmond's impressive defense:
"In this day and age, any DI team is going to have guys that are athletic and make plays and can ball out on the field. I'm excited for what our receivers can do against them. We have to handle our business.

CORNERBACK JERMAINE WALLER

On returning to Lane this weekend:
"It's always exciting to come back to Lane and come through the tunnel. I think it's going to be fun. We have a good team coming in, but we put in the work and we are prepared."

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN LECITIUS SMITH

On the mentality of the team as he looks forward to the rest of the season:
"The mentality that we have as a team, really, is that we had a tough loss, but it is only the third game of the season. We have nine more to go, if not more. There's a lot more football to be played. We just came off a loss so guys were hurt, they were down in the locker room. But, at the end of the day, we came back the very next day to practice. There weren't any pointing fingers and that was pretty cool to me, because it hasn't always been like that."
