Robie releases 2021-2022 wrestling schedule

Opens in a new window 2021-2022 Schedule

After leading Virginia Tech to a historic – and unprecedented – season highlighted by securing the Dual Team title for the fifth time in program history, the longest undefeated regular season in program history, and finishing the 2020-2021 season as the #2 ranked dual team in the country, Virginia Tech head coach Tony Robie has finalized the Hokies' schedule for the 2021–2022 season.

The schedule features six home duals including national contender Ohio State and ACC foe, UNC. On the road, the Hokies face stiff competition in non-conference and ACC foes, in addition, participating in two premier midseason tournaments.

The first chance to catch the Hokies in action will be the Southeast Open hosted at Roanoke College on Nov. 7. Tech will then host Ohio State (Nov. 19) and Gardner Webb (Nov. 20) the same weekend before traveling to Missouri to face Mizzou and Northern Iowa in a tri-meet event (Dec. 4). The Hokies have a break before heading south to Fort Walton, FL to participate in the resurrected Journeymen Collegiate Wrestling Duals (Dec. 20-21) to close out 2021.

Tech will ring in 2022 in Chattanooga at the Southern Scuffle (Jan. 1-2), a premier tournament that boasts heavy NCAA championship laden resumes. West Virginia and Binghamton (Jan. 9) both travel to Blacksburg for tri-meet setting. The iconic Moss Arts Center match will feature Tech taking on George Mason (Jan. 15) to close out the non-conference schedule. The Hokies hit the road back-to-back weekends to begin ACC competition – first to Raleigh against conference rival NC State (Jan. 21) then Pittsburgh (Jan. 28). Duke (Feb. 4) and UNC (Feb. 11) round out the home slate before traveling to UVA (Feb. 18) for the regular season finale.

The Hokies will look to recapture the conference title when they travel to Charlottesville for the 2022 ACC Championships at UVA on March 6. After ACCs, Tech will conclude the 2021-2022 campaign at the NCAA Championships held in Detroit (Mar. 17-19) this season.
