Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech athletics department announced Wednesday its plans to recognize, celebrate and engage Hokie fans through its digital platforms this summer.
The campaign, dubbed #HokieNation Appreciation, will begin on Monday, June 14, and run through Friday, July 30, and will feature opportunities for Tech followers across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to win a variety of prizes including Hokie football tickets.
Each day of the week will have a unique theme offering Tech fans the chance to participate and build excitement toward the Hokies' 2021 football season. The daily themes as part of #HokieNation Appreciation are:
- Memory Monday presented by Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport - Every Monday on the @hokiesports Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts, followers will be asked to share a special memory of an experience around Tech football. At the end of July, every submission will be entered for a chance to win one (1) $500 End of Summer flight voucher from Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport while five other entries can win one (1) upcoming Pieces of Home subscription - a $250 value!
- Trivia Tuesday - Head over to the @hokiesports Instagram account every Tuesday and test your knowledge of Tech football trivia.
- Wallpaper Wednesday - Follow @hokiesports on Twitter and Instagram and vote for the mobile wallpaper photo every Wednesday.
- Throwback Thursday - We want to see your favorite photos and videos! Every Thursday on the @hokiesports Twitter and Facebook accounts, followers will be given a prompt to share a photo or video related to that week's theme.
- Hokie Pride Friday - Show us how you rep Virginia Tech wherever you are! On Fridays, put on your maroon and orange Hokie gear and share your photo with @hokiesports on Twitter and Facebook. Each day, one lucky follower will be randomly selected to win one (1) $50 gift card to the HokieSports Shop.
In addition to the daily themes outlined above, #HokieNation Appreciation will include the Start Jumping Sweepstakes and Honorary No. 25 Healthcare Heroes recognition presented by Carilion Clinic.
Virginia Tech football fans can enter the Start Jumping Sweepstakes for the chance to win two (2) tickets to Hokie football home games, available for each game during the 2021 season. Winners will be selected and notified on Mondays following the entry period deadline. No payment is required to enter the sweepstakes.

The Carilion Clinic Honorary #25 Health Care Heroes recognition is inspired by the #25 jersey awarded each week to a Virginia Tech Hokies football player who is a special teams standout. Current Virginia Tech football head coach Justin Fuente began the tradition before the 2016 season. This summer, Virginia Tech athletics and Carilion want to recognize standout frontline health care workers who made game-changing plays in the fight against COVID-19. Hokies fans can nominate someone to receive an honorary #25 jersey as part of the "special team" that led our communities, the Commonwealth of Virginia and our country through the pandemic.
Each week during #HokieNation Appreciation, one nominee will be recognized on HokieSports.com and the @hokiesports social media accounts for their selfless contributions. These honorees will also receive an honorary #25 jersey.
After the campaign, all nominees will be entered to win the opportunity to attend one of seven games in Lane Stadium this season, courtesy of Carilion Clinic. Additionally, one nominee, the person who submitted the nomination, and two guests will be invited to attend a 2021 game and be treated to a unique VIP experience in Lane Stadium.
