GREENSBORO, N.C. – The ACC has selected its 2021 Weaver-James-Corrigan Postgraduate Scholarship Award recipients and four Hokies were honored on Wednesday, including Wabissa Bede of men's basketball, Nika Kozar of women's tennis, Darby Trull of softball and Regan Westwood of women's swimming and diving.
This year's list includes three student-athletes who will also receive the Thacker Award and nine student-athletes who plan to pursue professional careers in their chosen sports and were named honorary recipients, with Bede being one of those nine.
Bede is earning his master's in agricultural and life sciences with a concentration in leadership studies, Kozar is a double major in criminology and sociology, Trull is majoring in consumer studies and Westwood is majoring in smart and sustainable cities/environmental policy and planning.
The Weaver-James-Corrigan and Jim and Pat Thacker postgraduate scholarships are awarded to selected student-athletes who intend to pursue a graduate degree following completion of their undergraduate requirements. Each recipient will receive $6,000 toward his or her graduate education. Those honored have performed with distinction in both the classroom and their respective sport, while demonstrating exemplary conduct in the community.
