CLEMSON, S.C. – The Virginia Tech women's basketball team closed out the portion of its schedule with a 70-64 victory at Clemson, Thursday night, the program's sixth consecutive heading into the final date of the regular season at 13-7 (8-7).
 
The Hokies got out to a hot start leading 11-2 after triple from Aisha Sheppard and Georgia Amoore before the Tigers got a footing in the game. All-Conference players Elizabeth Kitley and Sheppard each had 14 points in the first half, helping the Hokies to a 10-point advantage.
 
In the third the lead ballooned to 17 before Clemson would make a run to close the gap.
 
Key 3's from Cayla King and then from Sheppard curtailed the push and the Hokies were able to close it out.
 
Kitley scored 24 on 11 for 15 shooting and Sheppard scored a game-high 27.
 
Clemson fell to 10-11 (5-11).
 


 
GAME NOTES
•Virginia Tech is now 13-13 against the Tigers.
•Kenny Brooks' record moves to 99-56 at Virginia Tech and 436-178 in his career.
•Tech is 9-2 all-time on February 25 and 3-2 in conference games.
•The starting lineup of Georgia Amoore, Aisha Sheppard, Cayla King, Azana Baines and Elizabeth Kitley accounted for all 70 points.
•The Hokies have won six consecutive ACC games for the first time in the program's history after joining the conference in 2004.
•Kitley registered her 13th double-double of the season with 24 points and 13 rebounds. She leads the conference in that category.
 
NEXT TIME ON THE COURT
•The Hokies will take on the North Carolina Tar Heels on Sunday, February 28 at 2 p.m. That game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
