NFL Hokies Week 9 Primer

Sunday, Nov. 7
 
Minnesota at Baltimore – 1 p.m. ET – FOX
T Christian Darrisaw made his second straight start at left tackle for the Vikings on Sunday Night Football last week in a loss to Dallas. Darrisaw and the Vikings will travel to Baltimore to face fellow Hokie S Chuck Clark and the Ravens, who are coming off their bye week. Clark ranks third on the Ravens' defense with 35 tackles (22 solo) this season.
 
Las Vegas at N.Y. Giants – 1 p.m. ET – CBS
Also coming off their bye week are LB Divine Deablo, CB Brandon Facyson and the Raiders. Since joining Las Vegas off the L.A. Chargers practice squad, Facyson has recorded 12 tackles and five passes defensed including his first career interception in Week 6. Deablo, the Raiders' 2021 third-round pick, has mostly seen action on special teams his rookie season.
 
Buffalo at Jacksonville – 1 p.m. ET – CBS
LB Tremaine Edmunds and the Bills travel to Jacksonville for a 1 p.m. ET matchup with the Jaguars after a 26-11 victory over AFC East opponent Miami last week. Edmunds recorded eight tackles in the game and leads the Buffalo defense with 48 tackles (32 solo) this season. 
 
Atlanta at New Orleans – 1 p.m. ET – FOX
Saints' K Brian Johnson made all three of his field goal attempts in New Orleans' win over defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday, including the game-winning 23-yard field goal. Johnson has now made game-winning kicks for the Saints in back-to-back weeks after hitting a 33-yarder for the win on Monday Night Football in Week 7. New Orleans (5-2) hosts NFC South foe Atlanta (3-4) Sunday.
 
Denver at Dallas – 1 p.m. ET – FOX
Following their 17-10 win over Washington last week, CB Kyle Fuller and the Broncos travel to Dallas for an early afternoon matchup with the Cowboys. Fuller saw reserve action in the win over the Football Team and brother Kendall in Week 8.
 
Cleveland at Cincinnati – 1 p.m. ET – CBS
After a division loss last week, the Browns and G Wyatt Teller get another divisional opportunity this week as they travel across Ohio to take on the Bengals. Teller has started all eight of the Browns games at right guard.
 
Houston at Miami – 1 p.m. ET – FOX
WR Isaiah Ford was on the field for the Dolphins in Week 8 for his second game played of the 2021 season. The previous week, Ford made his first career touchdown reception in his first game this year. Miami (1-7) hosts Houston (1-7) at 1 p.m. ET Sunday.
 
Green Bay at Kansas City – 4:25 p.m. ET – FOX
T Yosh Nijman saw reserve action for the Packers in their 24-21 Thursday Night Football win over previously undefeated Arizona last week. Nijman has now played in all eight of Green Bay's games this season, making three starts at left tackle. The Packers (7-1) travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs (4-4) Sunday afternoon.
 
Monday, Nov. 8
 
Chicago at Pittsburgh – 8:15 p.m. ET – ESPN
The second Hokie vs. Hokie matchup of Week 9 takes place on Monday Night Football in Pittsburgh as RB Khalil Herbert and the Bears take on S Terrell Edmunds and the Steelers. Last week, Herbert recorded 23 carries for 72 yards with a 22-yard long in the Bears loss to San Francisco. Edmunds registered five tackles in Pittsburgh's 15-10 win over Cleveland. 
 
Hokies on Bye
Four Hokies enjoy their bye weeks this week as CB Kendall Fuller, DT Tim Settle, TE Logan Thomas and T Duane Brown have a week off. Fuller recorded three tackles and two passes defensed as Settle saw reserve action in the Football Team's loss to Denver last week. Brown started at left tackle in Seattle's 31-7 win over Jacksonville as he has in all eight of the Seahawks' games this season. Thomas will reportedly return to practice for Washington following the bye after missing the last four games due to a hamstring injury.
