BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech Athletics' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is partnering with the Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Virginia for its Adopt-A-Family initiative.
This year, SAAC is hoping to raise $5,000 to buy gifts for 160 children at Christiansburg Middle School, Shawsville Middle School and Eastern Montgomery Elementary. Donations can be made via Venmo @SAAC-adopt-a-family or via cash or check made out to VT Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and mailed to Cameron Spera at 620 Lane Stadium West Side, Blacksburg, VA 24061.
SAAC is a leadership group consisting of student-athletes encompassing all sports at Virginia Tech. The team provides insight on the student-athlete experience and offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives. SAAC serves as a conduit of communication among student-athletes, coaches and athletic administrators in an effort to improve the student-athlete experience.
In 2019, SAAC raised $4,000 to buy gifts for kids at Christiansburg and Shawsville Middle School. SAAC members then wrapped and delivered the gifts to the schools and interacted with kids at their annual holiday parties.
