BLACKSBURG – Leading up to the next game for Virginia Tech football, which takes on Virginia on Saturday, select players met with the media for a press conference on Tuesday. Read what they had to say below.
LINEBACKER DAX HOLLIFIELD
On being a tight knit group:
"So much adversity has hit us this year. So, what? What now? Like, it's just keep on going. Just pick it up. Pick it back up and keep on going."
WIDE RECEIVER TRÉ TURNER
On his 20-plus hour trip to and from Miami:
"It was a nice trip. It was nice. I was very comfortable. There was good vibes all the way but then I got to a point where I wanted to get out of the car. Then I realized I had to get back in the car and go back and to the same thing again. So, it was fun. I'm glad I got to go to Miami, because I didn't get to go my sophomore year."
WIDE RECEIVER DA'WAIN LOFTON
On what it was like scoring his first touchdown:
"Oh, it was very exciting scoring my first touchdown and helping the team in any way I could."
DEFENSIVE LINEMAN TYJUAN GARBUTT
On powering through everything:
"This team is very resilient. We work together and we believe in each other. Last week was pretty tough. I feel like, collectively, we handled it pretty well as a whole. We obviously didn't get the result we wanted, but it just means you have to continue to go to work."
