Blacksburg – Virginia Tech wrestling 174-pounder Mekhi Lewis was named Co-ACC Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday, November 23 after going 2-0 over the weekend, including an impressive victory over a top-10 opponent. Lewis shares the honor with North Carolina 141-pounder Kizhan Clarke who had a top-five win of his own last week.
Ranked No. 4 in the nation according to Intermat, Lewis garnered the honor by downing No. 6 ranked Ethan Smith of Ohio State 6-4 in the tightly contested top-10 dual between Tech and the Buckeyes on Friday. Lewis finished off his weekend with an exclamation, handling Gardner-Webb's Evan Schenk via 21-6 tech fall Saturday afternoon.

Lewis improves his record to 6-0 on the season at his new weight class with the Hokies standing at 1-1 as a team ahead of another test out west in less than two weeks.
Virginia Tech travels to Columbia, Missouri for a tri-meet event next to face No. 16 Northern Iowa (3:30 p.m.) and No. 3 Missouri Tigers (6 p.m.) on December 4.
