Five things to know ahead of Tech wrestling’s dual season home weekend opener

It's officially wrestling season in Blacksburg as Virginia Tech Wrestling opens their dual competition slate on Nov. 19 at 7 PM and Nov. 20 at 1 PM at Carillion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum.

Below are five things to know ahead of this weekend's action:

  1. Giveaways and promotions on deck! It's Back to the 80's night in Cassell Friday night so get dressed to theme, show up, and rock out. First 250 fans get a Hokies Wrestling tee, there will be photo stations pre-match, and fan engagement activities throughout the dual.

  1. Fans are back in Cassell! It's been a long time since fans packed Cassell for a Tech wrestling match at full capacity but we are back. Debuting ranked No. 6 in national polls, the Hokies are primed for a special season powered by the return of three All-Americans, a national and world champion, a world medalist, and a formidable transfer. With a talented roster and one of the best coaching staffs in the country guiding the way, Hokie faithful will be the difference as Cassell becomes a tough environment for the opposition.

  1. A friendly reminder about parking. Parking for Friday and Saturday's event is open to the public. No parking passes nor payment will be required AFTER 5 PM on Friday evening. Parking for Saturday's match is also free.

For questions, please email parking@vt.edu or call 540-231-3200.

  1. Cashless concessions and gameday enhancements go into effect this season. The Virginia Tech athletics department previously announced several gameday experience elements fans can expect at Hokie wrestling home duals this season. The list includes mobile ticketing, cashless concession stands, fan-friendly concession pricing, alcohol sales and more.

  1. In keeping with current guidelines related to wearing masks at university events, Virginia Tech will require masks regardless of vaccination status for all indoor events scheduled for Cassell Coliseum. Such events include wrestling matches, men's and women's basketball games, and the 2021 fall commencement ceremonies. Proof of vaccination or a negative test will not be required to attend an event at Cassell Coliseum. Masks can be removed when people are actively eating or drinking.
