NOTES ON THE HOKIES

  • By making the 2021 NCAA Tournament field, the Hokies join four other programs (Indiana, Maryland, Wake Forest and Washington) as the only teams to make the last six tournaments.
  • Virginia Tech is the only team from Virginia to make this year's NCAA Tournament. The last time only one team from the Commonwealth made the field was in 2009 (Virginia) and before that, the last occurrence was 1990 (Virginia).
  • In their last outing, the Hokies fell in the ACC Championship quarterfinal to No. 1 seed Pitt. Kyle McDowell scored the first goal of his Virginia Tech career in the match before Tech fell in double overtime to the Panthers.

NOTES ON THE CAMELS

  • Campbell won its third Big South tournament title in four years last Sunday with 3-2 win over High Point. The Camels also won the 2021 Big South regular season crown, marking the second time in three years they have accomplished the double.
  • Virginia Tech and Campbell have met twice since both teams achieved varsity status, with the Camels holding a 1-0-1 advantage.
  • The Camels are led in scoring and points by Tyler Young, who has nine goals and nine assists on the season.
