The 25th-ranked Virginia Tech women's basketball team is back on Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum Wednesday night as they play host to the Coppin State Eagles.

Tech is currently 3-0 after coming off an 81-52 victory over George Mason. Elizabeth Kitley secured a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. In addition to Kitley's impressive showing, the Hokies, got great contributions from Aisha Sheppard, who had 16 points, seven rebounds, and four assists and by Cayla King who added 15 points and two steals. 

Virginia Tech grabbed 46 rebounds in Sunday's game compared to George Mason's 28, led by Kitley's 10 boards. The Hokies also cleaned up the offensive glass, turning 13 rebounds into eight second-chance points.

Virginia Tech forced 16 George Mason turnovers while committing just 14 themselves in Sunday's game. The Hokies turned those takeaways into 26 points on the other end of the floor. King's two steals led the way for Virginia Tech.

The Hokies shot well from three-point range, knocking down 13 of 29 long-range attempts.

Tech held the Patriots to only 30.8 percent shooting from the field and never trailed after taking a 21-13 first-quarter lead. They also shared the ball well, recording an assist on 75 percent of made field goals. 

Coppin State (2-1), is coming off of a 74-45 loss to Rhode Island Sunday afternoon. 

The Eagles were led by Jaia Alexander who recorded a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. She also shot 10-of-13 from the free-throw line. Freshman Jewel Watkins was the second-leading scorer for the Eagles, scoring a career-high seven points and four rebounds. 

Jalynda Salley contributed with six points in the third quarter, along with two blocks. Mossi Staples led the team in assists, with two, while Colleen Bucknor was the second leader in rebounds with eight and recorded two blocks.
