Elizabeth Kitley opens season as ACC’s Co-Player of the Week

BLACKSBURG – Junior center Elizabeth Kitley shares ACC Player of the Week honors with Wake Forest guard Jewel Spear, the conference announced on Monday afternoon. 
 
Kitley averaged 21.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 2.6 assists in the Hokies' 3-0 start to the season. Kitley is shooting 63% from the field in 30 minutes of action per night.
 
She already owns a 30-point performance this season when she scored a career-high 34 at George Washington. In that game she set a new program record with 17 field goals.
 
Against George Mason, the 6-foot-6 center recorded her first double-double of the season with 23 points and 10 rebounds, to secure the 20th of her career in just 58 games.
 
Kitley leads the nation in blocked shots with 12 already, after opening the season with six against Davidson.
 
The Hokies are back on Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. tip against Coppin State and again Sunday, November 20 against Campbell.
