BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech is 2-0 for the third time in as many years under Mike Young following a 77-57 victory over Navy on Friday night.

Against an aggressive Midshipmen (1-1, 0-0 Patriot League) team that defeated No. 25 Virginia on Tuesday, the Hokies (2-0, 0-0 ACC) jumped out to an early lead that Navy would never be able to draw back in.

CATTOOR'S BIG NIGHT
With 19 points and four assists, Hunter Cattoor had a career night. The guard was 5-7 from beyond the arc, tying his career-high in 3-point field goals made in a game.

THIS TIME OF THE YEAR
Mike Young moved to 11-2 in the month of November with the Hokies. In that span, Tech has defeated No. 3 Michigan State in 2019 and No. 3 Villanova in 2020.

FOUR IN A ROW
Virginia Tech has defeated Navy in four consecutive games. The win streak began on Jan. 23, 1960, with a 79-68 win in Annapolis, Md. Friday night's win was Tech's third win by double digits against the Mids.

NOTHING EASY
The Hokies restricted Navy to zero offensive rebounds in the first half, eliminating the chance for second-chance points.

CHARITY STRIPE SUCCESS
The Hokies shot 15-19 from the free-throw line. Keve Aluma led the charge, shooting 10-10, and moved to 12-12 on the year from the charity stripe.

UP NEXT
Virginia Tech will welcome New River Valley rival Radford into Cassell Coliseum on Monday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. The Hokies hold a three-game win streak against the Highlanders. Evan Hughes (play-by-play) and Mack McCarthy (analyst) will have the call on ACCNX.
