Mahar earns Co-ACC Women's Golfer of the Month

BLACKSBURG — Virginia Tech women's golf senior Emily Mahar was named Co-ACC Women's Golfer of the Month Thursday afternoon by the conference office. It was the second time in Mahar's career she was recognized with the honor (October 2019). She shares the award with Wake Forest's Rachel Kuehn.

Mahar had an exceptional month for the Hokies on the links, finishing in the top eight in both tournaments she competed in. All six of her rounds in October were par-or-better, including a season-low-tying 68 in her last round of the fall slate.

At the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, Mahar was one of two Hokies to finish in the top eight of the individual leaderboard and finish in red figures for the 54-hole event. Behind Mahar's strong play, Tech had its best showing of the fall, carding a 5-under 859 to place third as a team.

Two weeks later at the Landfall Tradition, Mahar finished in the red yet again, this time with a shot at the individual title. The Brisbane, Australia native carded six birdies during her first nine holes of Sunday's final round to finish second.
