BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men's golf team will take a trip to Jonesborough, Tennessee for the 23rd annual Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, Sunday through Tuesday.
Tech is coming off a third-place finish at the Old Town Club Collegiate in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Sophomore Kobe Valociek broke the top five for the first time in his career to lead the Hokies.
East Tennessee State will host its 54-hole tournament at Blackthorn Club. Among the 15 teams entered, five schools are ranked in the top-50: No. 11 NC State, No. 16 UAB, No. 20 ETSU, defending champion No. 40 Louisville and No. 50 Charlotte.
The Hokies won this tournament in 2007 on a scorecard playoff after tallying an 852. In 2013, Scott Vincent took home the individual title with a score of 13-under 203.
Connor Burgess, Valociek, Daniel Azallion, Drew Brockwell and Connor Johnson Jr. will compete for Tech, while Charlie Hanson is entered as an individual. The Hokies are paired with Louisville and Penn State for Sunday's first round, which gets underway at 11 a.m. ET for the trio.
