BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech volleyball team looks for its first ACC win this weekend, traveling to NC State on Friday and North Carolina on Sunday. First serve for Friday's match is at 7 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. start on Sunday.

Scouting NC State
The Wolfpack enters Friday's match with a 7-8 overall record and a 1-3 ACC record. Most recently, NC State was on the road in Florida, falling to Florida State 3-1 and Miami 3-0. The Wolfpack has a notable win over Georgia and an ACC win over Virginia. NC State is led offensively Jade Parchment, averaging 3.77 kills per set, good for fifth in the ACC. She is also averaging 4.05 points per set, which is a team-high and sixth in the ACC. Kristen McDaniel is the assist leader for NC State with 10.37 per set and 425 total. She ranks fifth in the ACC in assists per set.
Scouting North Carolina
Sitting at 11-4 overall, the Tar Heels will take on Wake Forest Friday night before hosting the Hokies. UNC is 0-4 in ACC play but has notable wins over Michigan 3-2 and Duke 3-0 in a non-ACC match. Leading the Tar Heels on the offensive side is Nia Robinson, averaging 3.98 points per set with 195 kills. Kayla Merkler has a team-high .410 hitting percentage which is second in the ACC. She is also ninth in the ACC with 1.11 blocks per set. Libero Karenna Wurl has 162 digs on the season and is 10th in the ACC in digs per set with 3.77.
1,000 Digs Club
Junior libero Logan Mosley is 27 digs away from joining the 1,000 digs club. She would be the 19th Hokie in school history to achieve the milestone. Mosley set the freshman record in 2019, recording 507 digs as a rookie and breaking the record of 481 set in 2016. She also set the single-match dig record as a freshman in just her fifth match, scooping up 39 digs vs. Davidson. The libero currently has 273 digs on the year, with her season-high sitting at 34, which she posted in a match against Davidson.
Ziero Time to Waste
Anabel Zier played a season-high four sets against Boston College last Friday, making a big impact at the net with seven total blocks, as the Hokies recorded a season-high 19. The junior also had six kills and hit .308 over her four sets, both a season-high for her. Zier made her first start of the season the next game against Syracuse, playing in all three sets. She had five kills and a block assist on the afternoon.

The Hokies return to Blacksburg for the next two weekends, hosting No. 3 Louisville on Friday, Oct. 15 and Notre Dame on Sunday, Oct. 17.
