Soundbites: Week 6 Press Conference

BLACKSBURG – Ahead of Virginia Tech football's next game being versus Notre Dame, a few players met with the media for a press conference on Wednesday. Read what they had to say below.

WIDE RECEIVER TRÉ TURNER

On the offense the first four weeks of the season:
"The whole offense for the first four games I feel like is we're still trying to find our identity, find what we can do and what we are supposed to be doing on the field, but it's all about execution. Whenever one person messes up, it messes up the whole execution of the play. So, if one person doesn't execute, then the whole operation doesn't."

On what stood out from watching the offense on film:
"We just left a lot of opportunities out there, whether it's a drop pass or a route going the wrong way or the quarterback scrambling, it's the little things. There's nothing to get down about, we just know what can't happen and what is supposed to happen so when we're watching film and see that one of us may stop and we know it was our fault and the whole offense didn't operate. It's like my one false start, I knew I messes up the whole job with my false start, it's the little things like that, it'll just be mental problems."

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN JOHNNY JORDAN

On what he's liked from the offense up front:
"I think we've done a good job at adjusting on the fly, coach put us in all different situations with guys playing in different areas and we just need to be able to adjust and play well, I think we are all playing well. Just really playing competitive football within the offensive line."

On how versatile he's been since coming to Blacksburg:
"I moved around a little bit in Maryland, I was mainly a center so coming here and haven't learned how to play guard was definitely an adjustment but I fully feel like I'm able to play anywhere on the offensive line in a pinch, but ideally the interior three has been a good adjustment, I've learned a lot more about offensive line play in general."

DEFENSIVE LINEMAN JORDAN WILLIAMS

On what he's liked about the defensive line:
"We've been making a lot of plays and run into the ball, and ultimately, if you run into the ball, you're bound to make a play. I'm just flying around communicating which is done well together. This has been fun out there playing for everybody."

On his takeaways from watching Notre Dame on film:
"They've got three different quarterbacks so and all three of those guys do things differently, so we need to know who's in the game and when they're in the game and the situation up front. They're rea;;y big up front and they're a really good offensive line and they work well together so for us we just need to go in there and do our job and attack them before they attack us."

LINEBACKER DAX HOLLIFIELD

On what has stood out from watching film:
"I thought we executed well. Naturally in key play. We play fast switch, and a lot of splits has allowed us to make plays, so we just went out and executed, did our job."

On getting extra preparation coming off a bye week:
"A lot of us were a little banged up, but I feel great. My hands are a little hard but other than that, I feel amazing. I think we got an extra day preparation wise, which really helped. Today was usually our first practice of the week but now we move on, the game plan we have we already feel good about it. We executed at very high levels, this morning so I feel good about going into it."
