Hokies drop Sunday match against No. 4 Pitt

PITTSBURGH, PA. – The Virginia Tech volleyball team fell in three sets to No. 4 Pitt Sunday afternoon, as the Panthers move to 20-2 and 10-2 in ACC play. The Hokies fall to 10-14 on the season.
 
Despite a solid performance from Angel Robinson, Pitt took the win in straight sets 25-15, 25-19 and 25-17. Robinson finished her match with six kills, hitting .625 on the afternoon. She also added five block assists.
 
Talyn Jackson was also big at the net for the Hokies, recording a solo block and four block assists. She added six assists on the afternoon. Cera Powell and Tasha Vipond were the other offensive leaders for the Hokies, as Powell recorded five kills and Vipond added four kills, with a .667 hitting percentage.
 
For the Panthers, Chinaza Ndee and Kayla Lund both reached double digits as Ndee recorded 11 kills as well as six digs on the afternoon. Lund added 10 kills, hitting .375 on the day with a team-high nine digs. Kylee Levers and Lexis Akeo were the assist leaders, each with 14.
 
Virginia Tech was strong at the net against Pitt, recording 13 total blocks compared to six by the Panthers. However, Pitt recorded a .325 hitting on the afternoon compared to a .169 by the Hokies.
 
Virginia Tech returns to action on Thursday, making the trip to Winston-Salem to take on Wake Forest at 6 p.m. The Hokies finish their road trip with a 1 p.m. match at Duke on Sunday.
