Tech to close home regular season schedule with BC

ACC Regional Sports Networks Live Statistics Virginia Tech Notes

BLACKSBURG – Coming off its five-goal victory against Miami, the Virginia Tech women's soccer team will look to strike a winning note during its home regular season finale on Sunday, Oct. 24, when Tech welcomes Boston College to Thompson Field for a 12 p.m. tilt. Sunday's match between the Hokies and the Eagles will air live on ACC Regional Sports Network affiliates.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
Postseason Push:  With two ACC matchdays remaining, Virginia Tech stands in sole possession of eighth place in the league table – four points behind the sixth and final qualifying spot for the conference tournament. The Hokies are actively chasing their third ACC tourney berth within the last four seasons and have their hearts set on making a deep NCAA tournament run. At the beginning of the week, Tech was ranked No. 31 in the NCAA Women's Soccer RPI and was within reach of re-cracking the top 25 poll per United Soccer Coaches. Following Thursday's 5-0 victory against Miami, the Hokies clinched at least a share of a .500 record for the 2021 season - the program's 10th such campaign during Chugger Adair's 11 seasons as head coach.

Chasing History:  Senior midfielder Emily Gray continues to script her own Virginia Tech history. With 74 career points to her name, the veteran playmaker enters Sunday's match one point shy of tying Kelly Conheeney (75) for second place on the program's all-time leaderboard. Additionally, Gray ranks in a tie for sixth place on Tech's all-time goals list (26) and in a tie for third place among Tech assist-earners (22). After her five-point night against Miami (Oct. 21), the fourth-year attacker also reclaimed the ACC goals and points leads with 11 and 28, respectively.

End of the Road:  Sunday will mark the final regular season home match for six Virginia Tech seniors: Emily Gray, Karlie Johnson, Nicole Kozlova, Emmalee McCarter, S.A. Phillips and Emma Steigerwald. This season, the Hokies are 6-1-1 when playing in front of the Thompson Field faithful.

UP NEXT
Virginia Tech will conclude its regular season schedule on Thursday, Oct. 28, when the Hokies visit Syracuse for a 7 p.m. away match. Should Tech earn qualification to the 2021 ACC tournament, the Hokies would contest their league quarterfinal match on Sunday, Oct. 31.
