BLACKSBURG – Heading into this weekend's home game versus Pitt, a few Virginia Tech football players met with the media for a press conference. Read what they had to say below.

DEFENSIVE BACK JERMAINE WALLER

On how the team is preparing for Saturday:
"[Pitt] is definitely a great team and they have a great offense. We just need to be disciplined and do what we need to do so we can play fast and keep it simple so we can execute."

QUARTERBACK BRAXTON BURMEISTER

On the end of the Notre Dame game:
"The end of the game was just a tough situation. 17 seconds left. It's hard to get down the field and there's not many calls that you can call to do that so that's almost a Hail Mary situation. It was just us trying to figure out how we're going to score late in the game. I think just executing at the end of the game is going to help us."

DEFESNIVE BACK NASIR PEOPLES

On your interception against Notre Dame:
"The whole time I could see the quarterback looking. So as the ball was coming, I was like I gotta catch this one because I let a few get away earlier in the season so I was like I need to catch this one."

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN LECITUS SMITH

On improvements to be made as you get into the ACC stretch:
"For starters, we all laid it out on the line but there's things we have to clean up. Sitting in that film room, the next day, that Sunday, it was tough to re watch that film and just seeing how close we were to, you know, getting that win. But there's things we have to clean up. For starters, running the ball better, you know, just opening up holes better for our running backs so they can get to that third level, and then be one of one with that safety. That's the way it should be on our running plays and that's what we have to get it to. Open up those holes even bigger for our running backs to get through."

LINEBACKER ALAN TISDALE

On the impact of Dax Hollifield's absence in the first half against Pitt:
"I'm always going to miss Dax, you know, we are constantly talking about it but we can't turn around and look back. Keshawn has stepped up and is doing a great job. I believe in Keshawn. The whole defense believes in Keshawn. It's not only Keshawn who has had to step up. The whole defense has to step and communicate more."
