Ten Virginia Tech alums on active rosters for NFL Playoffs

All six of this weekend's NFL Wild Card games will feature Virginia Tech alums. Here's a look at the Tech alums who will be fighting for a spot in Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Feb. 7.

Saturday, January 9

Indianapolis at Buffalo – 1:05 p.m. ET
Two-time Pro Bowl LB Tremaine Edmunds and the Buffalo Bills are back in the playoffs for a second straight year, but this time they're hosting a playoff game for the first time since 1996. Edmunds was a huge part of a Buffalo defense that helped the Bills win the AFC East with a 13-3 record. The Bills are arguably one of the league's hottest teams, entering the playoffs on a six-game winning streak. Edmunds finished the regular season with 119 total tackles (77 solo) and a pair of sacks.

L.A. Rams at Seattle – 4:40 p.m. ET
T Duane Brown and the Seattle Seahawks finished the regular season with a 12-4 record to win the NFC West and the No. 3 seed in the NFC. A 13-year NFL veteran, Brown started all 16 games at left tackle during the regular season. A first-round pick of the Houston Texans in 2008, Brown was traded to Seattle in 2017. Tech alum Nick Sorensen serves as Seattle's secondary coach and nickel specialist.

Tampa Bay at Washington – 8:15 p.m. ET
Head coach Bruce Arians helped Tampa Bay snap its 12-year playoff drought as the Buccaneers finished the regular season with an 11-5 record. Arians' squad scored a franchise-record 492 points in 2020. Tech alums Nick Rapone (Safeties) and Cody Grimm (Defensive/Special Teams Assistant) are also on the Bucs' coaching staff.

TE Logan Thomas, CB Kendall Fuller, DT Tim Settle and the Washington Football Team earned a No. 4 seed after claiming the NFC East title. Thomas enjoyed another big game for Washington, hauling in the go-ahead, 13-yard TD pass in the game. He became only the third tight end in franchise history to register 70+ catches, 650+ receiving yards and more than five TD catches. He finished the regular season with 72 catches for 670 yards with six TDs. Fuller finished the year with a team-high four INTs, while Settle posted 5.0 sacks.

Sunday, January 10

Baltimore at Tennessee – 1:05 p.m. ET
S Chuck Clark and the Ravens head to Tennessee with an 11-5 record. Clark picked off a pass in Baltimore's 38-3 win at Cincinnati to close out the regular season. He finished the regular season second on the squad with 96 total tackles (57 solo), to go with 1.5 sacks and a fumble return TD.

Chicago at New Orleans – 4:40 p.m. ET
Two-time Pro Bowl CB Kyle Fuller returns to the postseason for the first time since 2018 as Chicago travels to New Orleans. The Bears finished the regular season with an 8-8 mark, registering wins in three of their last four contests. Fuller started all 16 games for a fifth consecutive year and finished the regular season with 62 total tackles (49 solo), eight passes defensed, an INT and a forced fumble.

Cleveland at Pittsburgh – 8:15 p.m. ET
The Browns ended an 18-year absence from the NFL Playoffs by beating Pittsburgh by a 24-22 margin in the regular season finale in Cleveland. This week, the two AFC North foes will square off again at Heinz Field in an AFC Wild Card contest. Wyatt Teller returned to the starting lineup for the Browns last week and will square off with Tech teammate, Steelers S Terrell Edmunds. Edmunds finished the season fourth on the squad with 68 total tackles (46 solo) to go with a pair of INTs and 1.0 sack.

T Yosh Nijman and the Green Bay Packers own the No. 1 seed in the NFC with a 13-3 record. The Packers hold the NFC's lone bye and will face the lowest-seeded remaining NFC squad in next weekend's Divisional Round.
