Friday's match will be a special occasion, as Virginia Tech will celebrate the 50th season of varsity competition for men's soccer. Alumni have been invited back for a weekend of recognition.
NOTES ON THE FIGHTING IRISH
Notre Dame (3-3-1, 1-0-1 ACC) enter the contest coming off consecutive wins against NC State and Michigan. In their Tuesday fixture against Michigan, the Fighting Irish's Jack Lynn scored twice. Similar to Tech (4-1-2, 1-1 ACC), Notre Dame is looking to put together three straight wins for the first time this season.
NOTES ON THE HOKIES
• With two consecutive wins over Commonwealth foes (vs. Virginia, at William & Mary) in dramatic fashion, Virginia Tech put together back to back wins for the second time this season.
• In the last two games, Jacob Labovitz has recorded three goals. His performance against UVA earned the senior ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
• Three members of the Virginia Tech back line -- Sivert Haugli, Kyle McDowell, and Welnilton da Silva Jr. -- have played all 672 minutes of the 2021 season.
ON-CAMPUS PARKING UPDATE
Virginia Tech Parking Services has implemented a change to its on-campus parking policy to more effectively manage parking for the growing population of permit holders who engage in university activities after traditional business hours. Beginning August 2021, on-campus parking lots will be metered until 10 p.m. on weekdays, Monday through Friday. Visitors to Virginia Tech's Blacksburg campus will now need to pay to park on campus using one of three options:
- ParkMobile App (available here)
- Go online to purchase a daily parking permit
- Visit the Parking Services office at 505 Beamer Way between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. to purchase a daily permit
