Labovitz picks up ACC Offensive POTW honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech forward Jacob Labovitz was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon for the second time in his career.

Labovitz scored twice in Friday night's match against Virginia, including a game-winning header in double overtime off a cross from Pol Monells. The senior's first goal of the night also came off a header from a free kick delivered by Kyle McDowell.

Along with the ACC Offensive Player of the Week award, Labovitz was named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week.

Labovitz earned ACC Offensive Player of the Week last season following a two-goal performance against Louisville, which also included a game-winning goal in extra time. After scoring a brace in Virginia Tech's NCAA Tournament match against No. 15 Oregon State last season, Labovitz was named United Soccer Coaches Player of the Week.

The striker's three-goal tally is tied for the most on the Hokies this season, as Landon Ameres also has three scores through six matches.

Tuesday's news comes ahead of Virginia Tech's match against William & Mary, which is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m. in Williamsburg, Va.
