BLACKSBURG – Following its perfect three-match home stand at Thompson Field, the Virginia Tech women's soccer team will take its unbeaten record outside Blacksburg on Sunday, Aug. 29, when the Hokies visit Cincinnati for a 1 p.m. kickoff against the Bearcats. Sunday's match at Gettler Stadium will air live on ESPN+.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
• Feel the Heat: Virginia Tech is off to its seventh 3-0-0 start through Chugger Adair's first 11 seasons as head coach of the Hokies. Tech's most recent victory was nothing short of spectacular as the Hokies breezed by Elon, 7-1, netting seven or more goals for the fifth time across program history. Nicole Kozlova (two goals, assist) factored into three of Tech's four goals inside the opening 20 minutes of play, becoming the program's third player to yield a five-point performance within the last five seasons (Allyson Brown, Tori Powell). The Hokies have also achieved their second highest three-match, season-opening goal differential under Chugger Adair, flexing the +10 margin against their opposition.
• Series History: Sunday's matchup in the Queen City will mark the third all-time meeting between Virginia Tech and Cincinnati. The Hokies are eager to preserve their pristine history against the Bearcats, having prevailed on two occasions without conceding. Tech won the inaugural series meeting, 4-0, during the opening round of the 2015 NCAA tournament and held serve at home again during the 2019 regular season (2-0). Nicole Kozlova's first of 10 career goals was scored against Cincinnati – part of her team leading, five-goal campaign. The Hokies will be making their first-ever appearance at Gettler Stadium.
• Out and About: Virginia Tech has posted a 15-4-0 record across its last 19 non-conference regular season matches dating back to the start of the 2019 season. Excluding ACC opponents, the Hokies are unbeaten during their last six true road regular season contests (5-0-1 record).
