BLACKSBURG – The Voice of the Hokies, Jon Laaser, conducts a post-practice interview with offensive lineman Lecitus Smith on how things are going at practice.

Tickets are still available for the Hokies' season opener against North Carolina on Friday, Sept. 3. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET, and will serve as Tech's annual Orange Effect game.

On the continuity of the 'Vice Squad':
"The Vice Squad is ready. We're definitely ready as a unit, preparing every single day the right way and doing it all together as a whole unit – all 20-something of us. I believe it's 21, but it's a lot in that room."

On what has made up-and-comer Kaden Moore so special:
"What makes Kaden so special and how he was able to elevate through camp so quickly, with him now working with the 1s, is the fact that he listens. Then his ability to learn and his ability to hear what [Vance] Vice says and actually bring it to the field. And he also looks up to us older guys, understanding that we've been doing this for a minute. Guys like me, Brock Hoffman, Silas Dzansi and Luke Tenuta. So, when we speak, he listens – and that's what makes him so special."

On who on the offensive line ate the most barbeque at Mission BBQ recently:
"You know what, I feel like it was either me or Danijel Miletic. I was definitely chowing down and before I knew it, I had to lean back in my seat. When you lean back in your set, you try to make extra room. I was definitely really full. They brought out banana pudding and I was able to make room. I don't know how I did it, but I did it."

On what it means to put the win T-shirt on following victories:
"It means a whole lot. It shows that we got the win and that's what's most important around here. We've been preparing from the first day of camp, and we've been really been doing it all summer, even without the pads on. So, when we win a game, whether it's close or by a big margin, it just shows that the work that we put in wasn't for nothing. That what we've been doing out here on the field and the grind, the blood, sweat and tears wasn't all for nothing. It was going towards something great and that's what makes it so special. So, those win T-shirts, that's big for us."
