In anticipation of an exciting day in Blacksburg next Friday, Sept. 3, the Virginia Tech Department of Athletics would like to share some important information.
The athletics staff, coaches, and student-athletes are thrilled to welcome everyone back to campus. It takes over one thousand employees to execute game day at Lane Stadium. As is the case with many businesses in the region, finding additional employees has proven to be a challenge. We ask for your patience as we work alongside you to create an incredible atmosphere in Lane Stadium.
Orange Effect
Fans are encouraged to wear orange for the annual Orange Effect game. The official Orange Effect shirt can be purchased online or at any Hokie Shop location on gameday.
Mobile Ticketing
As previously announced, all seats (excluding Club seats and Suites) will utilize mobile tickets. Visit HokieSports.com/MobileTickets for step-by-step instructions on how to access or transfer your tickets. We strongly encourage you to add your mobile tickets to your digital wallet before arriving at Lane Stadium to make your entrance through the gates as easy as possible. With the enhanced HokieSports mobile app for iOS or Android, you will be able to manage your account, add tickets to your digital wallet, transfer tickets to friends and family, and more. Just log in to the mobile app by using the email and password associated with your ticket account.
Cashless Concessions
As previously announced, all concession stands will move to cashless payment this year and will require a debit or credit card for purchase. Fans who do not have access to a card should consider buying a prepaid credit card at Kroger in advance of the game. On gameday, there will be a limited number of prepaid credit cards available in the Hokie Shop in the West concourse.
Indoor Mask Mandates
In adherence to Virginia Tech's current policy, masks are required, regardless of vaccination status, in all indoor common areas, except for when fans are eating/drinking. This specifically applies to hallways between suites and club spaces.
Gate 7 - Students Only
Gate 7 (behind the Beamer-Lawson Indoor Practice Facility) will now be a STUDENT-ONLY gate. Students who wish to sit in the North Endzone will need to get a wristband upon entry and these wristbands will only be distributed at Gate 7 until the area is at capacity. All other fans should make plans to enter Lane Stadium through a different gate.
Parking Lots/Tailgating
In accordance with policies and the Virginia Tech campus plan to close the school at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 3, parking lots will not officially open until 3 p.m. that afternoon. There are some options for those with reserved parking spaces that are outlined below. Fans are not encouraged to arrive before noon on gameday, even though lots are not officially open until 3 p.m.
- From 2-3 p.m, any car in gameday lots without a parking permit for gameday will be towed.
- If you arrive in the lot earlier in the day and your reserved space is open, please feel free to park there immediately. No further action is required.
- If you arrive in the lot earlier in the day and your reserved space is not open, please park in an open spot in your assigned lot and move your car when your reserved space becomes available, but not after 3 p.m.
- If you arrive after 3 p.m., you should not have any problem accessing your reserved space. In the event that you do, a member of our Guest Services team in the parking lot will be available to assist you. We will move cars into the lots as quickly as possible, but please know that we expect delays on gameday.
Public parking is available on gameday for $20 beginning at 3 p.m. in designated parking lots on campus. These include the Prices Fork Parking Garage, North End Center Parking Garage, Ag Quad Lot, and Squires Lot.
