THREE THINGS TO KNOW
Building on the Opener:  After posting three goals against Liberty on Thursday night, Virginia Tech is eager to deliver another victory against another Commonwealth program when the Hokies collide with William & Mary. Under head coach Chugger Adair, Tech is 16-2-0 during non-conference regular season matches against in-state opponents, including an unbeaten record against non-ACC sides. The Hokies are also eying consecutive season-opening shutouts for the fourth time since 2012 and their third 2-0-0 start at home across the last five seasons.

• Series History:  Despite trailing the all-time series against William & Mary, 4-5-0, Virginia Tech has won three straight series meetings dating back to the 2016 season. In March, the Hokies defeated the Tribe at Thompson Field, 3-0, receiving a pair of goals from Emily Gray and six combined saves from Alia Skinner (four) and S.A. Phillips (two). Total attempts between the two programs remained even that day at 15-15 with William & Mary achieving the narrow, 6-5 edge in attempts on target.

• Gray Moves Up Assists List:  With two assists during Virginia Tech's regular season opener, Emily Gray moved into a tie with Marika Gray for fifth place all-time in career assists (18). Gray's two assists against Liberty were both earned on set pieces she initiated during the second half, resulting in goals by rookie Emma Pelkowski and sophomore Tori Powell. After closing the spring season with six goals across her final four matches, Gray is now in possession of a five-match point streak.
