TALLINN, ESTONIA – Four Hokies are set to take on the continent in the 2021 European Athletics U23 Championships. Enid Duut, Sara Killinen, Antonio Lopez Segura, and signee Barbora Malíková join the best of Europe's young talent in a major international meet.
The four-day championships will run from Thursday, July 8 until Sunday, July 11 at Kadriorg Stadium in Tallinn, Estonia. Representatives from 50 nations in Europe will compete for medals in 44 events across the weekend. Tallinn's time zone is Eastern European Summer Time (GMT+3), meaning that local time at the championships will be seven hours ahead of EST. Live results will be available on the European Athletics Website and the meet will be broadcast on Eurovision Sports.

Enid Duut takes on the discus competition having finished fifth at the Netherlands National Championships. The Dutch thrower posted a lifetime best of 171' 8" (52.32m) in the discus at the NCAA East Prelims earlier this year and will go in Qualification Group A to begin her championships at 2:45 a.m. ET.
Sara Killinen took second at the ACC Championships in the hammer with a heave of 213' 0" (64.92m) and will look to continue her success at the championships. Killinen, out of Lapua, Finland, will throw for a spot in the hammer finals at noon ET on Thursday.
Antonio Lopez Segura, indoor ACC Champion in the 3,000m, will run the 5,000m in Tallinn. Lopez Segura posted a season's best outdoor time of 14:02.15 in the event at the ACC Outdoor Championships and takes on the single round of the event, a final split into two sections.
Barbora Malíková, the 20-year-old Virginia Tech signee, eyes more international glory in the 400m at the U23 Championships. The 2021 Czech champion in the event and Olympic qualifier broke her own U20 national record at the Czech National Championships with a time of 51.23 seconds. Malíková enters with the fastest time in the field this season and brings international pedigree to the competition. Malíková holds gold medals in the 400m from the the 2017 U17 World Championships, the 2018 European U17 Championships, and the 2018 Buenos Aires Youth Summer Olympics.
