BLACKSBURG – Mark Lawrence Jr. has been named to the first team for the 2021 VaSID All-State University Division Men's Golf team by the Virginia Sports Information Directors organization.
It marks the fourth time in Lawrence Jr.'s career he has been honored by VaSID. He was recognized on the first team in 2017, 2018 and 2021, and on the second team in 2020.
Lawrence Jr. led the Hokies in all stats last spring, including a scoring average of 72.07. He shot the most par-or-better rounds at 14 for the 2021 season and had five top-20 finishes out of eight tournaments, highlighted by a third place finish at the Oldfield Invitational.
The 2021 VaSID Golfer of the Year was Kieran Vincent, a redshirt junior from Liberty. Vincent's head coach, Jeff Thomas, was named VaSID Coach of the Year. Virginia's George Duangmanee took home VaSID Rookie of the Year.
