BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech athletics announced Tuesday that men's basketball season ticket renewals and new sales are now available for the Hokies' upcoming 2021-22 campaign.
Since season tickets were not offered in 2020 due to capacity restrictions, fans who purchased season tickets in 2019 will be able to renew their tickets at this time. An important reminder as listed here in the Hokie Club Investment Guidebook, the 2021-22 season will be a full reseating year in Cassell Coliseum. The deadline to renew season tickets or to order new season tickets, in order to participate in the seat selection process, is set for Thursday, July 29.
New this year, two different season ticket options will be available for purchase in an effort to maximize attendance at all home games. Both options will be treated as a true season ticket receiving the same benefits while also requiring the same per seat gift (if not already given).
This decision was made after reviewing attendance data over the last five years - despite growth in the number of season tickets sold, the actual number of tickets used at certain games did not increase. Specifically, on average, approximately 30% of season tickets were utilized for non-conference matchups while approximately 80% of the same season tickets were utilized for ACC matchups. As a result, adjusting this model provides the opportunity to focus on consistent locations for different types of season ticket holders while opening up improved seat locations for Hokie fans interested in attending a handful of games during the season.
Why should you, a basketball season ticket holder, choose the ACC only plan instead of the full season ticket? Simply, if you have noticed that you do not use most of your non-conference tickets, we would encourage you to select the ACC only plan so that we can work to find other Hokie fans who can fill the stands for some of the early season games. Fans should not worry about having the ability to order non-conference single game tickets as they will have priority access to those tickets before they are made available to the general public.
ACC-ONLY SEASON TICKETS
The ACC-only season ticket is a great option for fans of all types who may not be able to attend every home game, but do not want to miss the Hokies' home conference slate with premier matchups against Virginia, North Carolina, Louisville and Syracuse. This option is treated the same as a full season ticket and will have the same seat location for every game in the package. Those who select this option will be able to add tickets to any of Tech's non-conference games at a later date at the single game ticket price.
The ACC-only season ticket is priced at $220, $370 or $520 depending on location. Click here for a seating map of Cassell Coliseum.
TRADITIONAL SEASON TICKETS
The traditional season ticket is perfect for local Hokie fans and includes access to every home game, both ACC and non-conference. During the reseating process, those who select this option will be able to select and keep the same seat(s) for every game. In 2021-22, Tech will host 10 conference home games and approximately seven non-league contests.
Full season tickets are priced at $250, $450 or $600 depending on location. Click here for a seating map of Cassell Coliseum.
IMPORTANT RESEATING REMINDERS
Because this is a reseating year, and exact locations are not guaranteed, all season ticket buyers will buy-in at the lowest price point, regardless of package ($220). Once seats are selected during the seat selection process, additional payments/gifts may be required upon checkout, depending on location. For example, a fan wishing to order the full season ticket will buy-in at the $220 price point but would owe an additional $30 per ticket when completing seat selection in the cheapest price level for the full season package.
Seat selection will occur during a week-long period in the month of September. Seat selection date(s)/time(s) will be sent via direct mail with reminders coming via email.
TICKET PACKAGES & SINGLE GAME TICKETS
Packaged ticket offerings as well as single-game ticket information will be made available later this summer. Both the full season ticket option and the ACC season ticket option will continue to offer the best value over purchasing tickets packaged in mini-plans or individually.
STUDENT TICKETS
Also new this year, men's basketball student season tickets were offered earlier this spring to returning students. Due to the tremendous support of these students, basketball student season tickets have sold out. Single-game lottery tickets that are free of charge will still be available with more details to follow this fall.
