GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech softball players Jayme Bailey and Kelsey Brown were named to the 2021 All-ACC Academic Softball Team, the conference announced Monday.

The pair of Hokies met the academic requirements of a 3.0 GPA or better and were both named to the NFCA All-Mid Atlantic Region First Team. This is the second time Bailey has earned the honor after qualifying for the conference academic team in 2019.

Bailey tied for the team-lead after knocking in 42 runs on the season in 2021, helping the Hokies reach their second NCAA Super Regional in program history. Starting all 52 games, the West Virginia native posted a .309 batting average with 13 doubles, three triples and eight home runs. She also tied the school record for sacrifice flies in a single season with six on the year.

No one could catch Brown on the basepaths this season, as the sophomore stole a perfect 31 bases on 31 attempts, the most stolen bases in a single season without being thrown out in school history. The Haymarket, Virginia native led the Hokies in batting average at .384 and played in all 52 games, starting 50 in the outfield. Brown also had the most hits (66) and runs scored (46) of any Hokie this season.
