HOKIES
A pressing Oregon State (9-5, 6-4 PAC 12) squad briefly dimmed Virginia Tech's (7-6-3, 5-5-2 ACC) chances of earning its tenth NCAA tournament win in program history, but Jacob Labovitz had other plans. Labovitz's 100th-minute header in overtime, assisted by Chris Little, earned the Hokies their second extra time win in seven opportunities this season and punched their ricket to the third round of play.
Tech enters the game with confidence across the board after its defense and goalkeeper Matt Zambetti held the Beavers, the nation's top attacking squad, to one goal and Gloire Amanda, the nation's top scorer, scoreless.
The Hokies have ascored multiple goals in three consecutive games for the first time this season, being led by Labovitz, who has nine goals on the season.
PIRATES
No. 6 Seton Hall (10-1-3, 5-1-2 Big East) ousted Air Force () in the second round of the tournament last Sunday. A dramatic 89th-minute goal from CJ Tibbling lifted the Pirates to the Sweet Sixteen. With that victory, Seton Hall earned its first win in the NCAA Tournament since 2005.
Tibbling, the Pirates' No. 9, leads the team in goals with seven this season. Complimenting the leading scorer's game is JP Marin, who has recorded five assists through 14 matches this year.
