Biddison totals 3 hits in Virginia Tech's loss to Virginia

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech Hokies got a boost from sophomore Nick Biddison, who totaled three hits in a 6-1 loss to the Virginia Cavaliers Sunday.

Junior Shane Connolly (1-2) got the ball to start for Virginia Tech (23-17, 16-14 ACC) and took the loss. Senior Jaison Heard was a bright spot for the Hokies, coming out of the bullpen and throwing 4.1 innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on five hits, with no walks and three strikeouts.

In addition to his three hits, Biddison had a double and an RBI to lead the Hokies. Freshman Jack Hurley put together a noteworthy performance as well, going 1-for-2 with a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hokies got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. Virginia Tech got an RBI single from Biddison, scoring freshman TJ Rumfield from second base. The Hokies were unable to hold the lead, as Virginia (22-20, 13-17 ACC) scored six times over the remaining eight innings to grab the 6-1 win.
