Gavin Cross earns First Team All-ACC and All-Freshman honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following an impressive freshman season, Gavin Cross of the Virginia Tech
baseball team has been named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-ACC and All-Freshman teams, the league announced Monday.

Cross became the first Tech freshman to be named First Team All-ACC in program history, and the first All-Freshman team honoree since Ian Seymour in 2018.

The Bristol, Tennessee native finished the regular season with a .357 batting average in 196 at-bats. Cross led the ACC this season in hits (70) and triples (5) and finished third in total bases (126).

He was previously named a 2020 Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American.

Cross and the Hokies are in Charlotte, North Carolina this week for the 2021 ACC Baseball Championship at Truist Field. Tech is in Pool A with top-seeded Notre Dame and eighth-seeded Virginia. Pool play begins Tuesday at 3 p.m. when the Hokies take on the Cavaliers for the fourth time this season.
